This is a look at issues that are hitting the headlines within the greyhound racing industry. At present, the most disturbing news is the planned introduction of greyhound racing to Vietnam.

In a article headed - "Vietnam set to go to the dogs" it states

"Vietnam has paved the way for a night at the dogs by approving plans for its first greyhound racing track.

The $4.95 million joint venture between the British Virgin Island registered Hemlock Services who have a 70% stake and the Ba Ria-Vung Tua Tourism Company hopes to attract both foreign and Vietnamese punters.

The track will be sited at Vung Tau City some 75 miles southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, and the first dogs - pedigree greyhounds from Ireland are expected to begin chasing the hare sometime in 1999. The investors said the government has approved an investment license.

Gambling is a dirty word in communist Vietnam and as a leading social evil is banned".
